Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
